THEATRE COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS
Bloomington Playwrights Project
The Bloomington Playwrights Project (BPP) is the only professional theatre in the entire state of Indiana dedicated solely to new plays. In operation for 32 years, we serve both the Bloomington and national theatre community by working with talented playwrights, actors, and artists to develop high-level productions for our patrons as well as the many audiences attending subsequent productions of scripts that originated here at the BPP. We are an advocate for playwrights and new plays and believe firmly that they are not only important but absolutely vital to the future of our art form. Facebook
The Bloomington Storytellers’ Guild
The Bloomington Storytellers' Guild was formed in 1974 to help keep the ancient tradition of oral storytelling alive. In addition to being a means for sharing classic folk and fairytales of our times (and times past), storytelling encourages use of the imagination, listening skills, and an interest in reading. Members of the Guild meet about once a month to share new stories and plan storytelling events. Membership is open to anyone with a love for stories, a desire to tell them — and ten bucks for the registration fee.
Cardinal Stage Company

We aim to cultivate a lifelong passion for the stage by offering diverse, high quality productions in tandem with outreach and educational initiatives that contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of South-Central Indiana. The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington
The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington, founded in 2005, presents two or three annual productions, all of which highlight the Jewish experience but that also have universal themes accessible to a diverse audience. We hold open auditions for both Equity and non-Equity actors. All actors and production staff are paid for their work.
The Monroe County Civic

Visit our website for a showcase of our productions.
Travel in a luxury bus to see locations that even the locals don't know. A zany lady from Brooklyn will show haunted houses, underground railroad safe houses, and give you the low down on Bloomington scandals. There is Hoosier trivia and prizes for the winners. Actor Sharon Porter Phillips looks forward to misguiding you! You PROBABLY won't regret taking this tour!
